Paul Newman paid tribute to Elizabeth Taylor long before the dark-haired screen legend died. Elizabeth passed away yesterday from congestive heart failure at the age
of 79. In the touching video, which was made long before Paul's death in 2008, Newman narrated the documentary tribute to his Cat on a Hot Tin Roof co-star.In the early tribute video, Paul discussed how during the 1957 filming of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Taylor's husband Mike Todd died in a plane crash. Mike's death devastated Elizabeth but she continued working on the film. In Hollywood, the show apparently must always go on.
Speaking about that time, Newman stated, "In the midst of our filming Cat on a Hot Tin Roof she became a widow. Yet she persevered and acting was therapeutic. I was overwhelmed with her professionalism. She later said that playing Maggie 'The Cat' saved her."
Taylor's later years were filled with several painful health problems. Once can only hope she's found peace with Paul Newman and Mike Todd. Hopefully, they are laughing over past times together.
